Gear selection for bosses, also found at elitistjerks.com. The original list is much more talkative and includes some tank move recommendations. I spared only gear recommendations in this list. Missing bosses did not have any gear recommendations in the original list.
Serpentshrine Cavern
- Hydross: Resist gear.
- Morogrim Tidewalker: Max mitigation gear set. Any expertise or avoidance you can provide to reduce the threat of burst damage is particularly important. Emphasize avoidance and stamina on this fight.
- Leotheras: Aggro gear set. Use trinkets that increase shield block value.
- Vashj: One tank with high aggro set for phase 2.
Tempest Keep
- Void Reaver: Max aggro gear, and treat this as a rage-starved situation.
- Kael’thas: Let MT have 23265 HP in order to survive a pyroblast. If you provide the tank with a Power-Word: Shield before every pyroblast that is going to hit the tank, he can survive with about 21800 HP.
Use the following abilities on each of the potential pyroblasts that will hit: 1st Pyroblast) Major Fire Protection Potion (MFPP), 2nd) Nightmare Seed, 3rd) MFPP, 4th) Last Stand, 5th) MFPP, 6th) Nightmare Seed, 7th) MFPP, 8th) Shield wall, 9th) MFPP, 10th pyroblast) Nightmare Seed and so on. You use the legendary shield to protect against 1 pyroblast. (Different ideas work also, this is one way to do it by gear.)
Hyjal Summit
- Rage Winterchill: Aggro gear.
- Anetheron: If low SR and FR: avoidance gear. High SR and FR: aggro gear for the main tank.
- Kaz'rogal: Any gear.
- Az'galor: Avoidance gear.
Black Temple
- High Warlord Naj'entus: Start: avoidance gear. Farm: aggro gear.
- Supremus: Avoidance gear.
- Teron Gorefiend: For new guild: avoidance gear.
- Gurtogg Bloodboil: Avoidance gear.
- Reliquary of Souls: Max aggro gear – one which favors shield block (helps in phase 1).
- Mother Shahraz: Weapon expertise and avoidance gear. About 200 SR (Cloak with 15 SR enchant, wrist, neck). Offtanks: more SR.
- Illidan Stormrage: Tanking Illidan requires shield block for Shear. Do not rely on crush immunity, because as sheer cannot miss, it requires more than 102.4% avoidance to be sheer-immune. (Always have enough rage ready for a shield block.) Tank on first mob in phase 2: emphasize aggro. Tank on second mob in phase 2: emphasize survivability.
